15 Teams and 250 Participants Compete in Handball, Volleyball and Badminton

JAMSHEDPUR – The Inter Union Sports Tournament concluded at JRD Tata Sports Complex following three days of competitive action on December 11, 2025.
The Sports Advisory Committee jointly manages the initiative. Tata Steel and Tata Workers’ Union collaborate on organizing activities. Moreover, the tournament began in 2013 as an annual platform.
Tata Group unions from Jamshedpur participated enthusiastically this year. Raw Materials locations sent representative teams to compete. However, Tata Steel’s Wire Division from Mumbai attended as special invitee.
The Sports Department organized the entire tournament efficiently. Employee well-being remains a core organizational priority consistently. In addition, health and fitness receive significant emphasis.
Camaraderie among union committee members strengthened through participation. Office bearers engaged across all competitive disciplines actively. Besides, the event ran from December 8 through December 10.
Fifteen union teams registered for the competition this edition. Nearly 250 participants competed across three sporting disciplines. Furthermore, handball, volleyball and badminton formed the tournament structure.
Three officials received recognition during the closing ceremony. Nineteen observers also got felicitated for their contributions. On the other hand, their dedication ensured smooth tournament operations.
Sandeep Kumar attended as Chief Guest representing VP Raw Materials. Sanjeev Kumar Choudhary served as Guest of Honor as TWU President. Meanwhile, Mukul Vinayak Choudhary participated as Chief Sports representative.
Captain Manish Sinha heads Sports Events and Training Centre. Shailesh Singh serves as Deputy President of Tata Workers’ Union. B.K. Dinda presides over Tata Kamgar Union currently.
R.K. Singh holds General Secretary position at Tata Motors Workers’ Union. Shashi Bhusan leads Tata Motors Workers’ Union as President. In addition, Mohan Mahato serves as West Bokaro Union President.
OMQ-B Union secured the badminton championship convincingly. TRF Union finished as runner-up in badminton competition. However, Tata Motors Workers’ Union dominated volleyball events.
Tata Workers’ Union claimed runner-up position in volleyball matches. The same union won handball championship with strong performance. Besides, West Bokaro Union finished second in handball discipline.
The tournament celebrated competitive excellence and unity simultaneously. Sportsmanship defined interactions among all participating teams throughout. Employee engagement culture within Tata Group received reinforcement through sports.
