JAMSHEDPUR – President Droupadi Murmu will visit the city on December 29 to attend major cultural and academic programmes as part of her official Jharkhand tour.

According to the official schedule, the President will land at Sonari Airport in the morning hours and proceed directly to the Dishom Jaher venue for scheduled engagements.

At around 11 am, she will participate as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of Dishom Dahar, a historic tribal congregation that holds deep cultural significance for indigenous communities across the region.

Dishom Dahar is regarded as a key socio-cultural platform for tribal unity and heritage, while extensive administrative and security preparations have already been initiated for the high-profile visit.

Later in the day, President Murmu will attend the convocation ceremony at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, marking an important academic milestone for graduating students.

NIT Jamshedpur has recently hosted several national-level academic and research events, including ICE2CPT 2025 and other prominent institutional programmes.

In addition, the institute has drawn national attention for its academic standing and was featured in the NIRF 2025 rankings earlier this year.

Security agencies have been placed on alert across Jamshedpur, with traffic regulations and public advisories expected ahead of the Presidential movement.

Besides, district and police officials are coordinating closely with central agencies, while rehearsals for ceremonial and security protocols are currently underway.
