Armed burglars strike Kapali home, resident tied up at night

Thieves flee with jewellery worth Rs 50,000 from Seraikela district house

Key Points:

  • Burglars tied resident and threatened him with knife
  • Family suspects familiar youth behind planned theft
  • Police begin probe as locals demand night patrols

SERAIKELA – A major night burglary triggered fear in Kapali area of Seraikela district.

The incident occurred around 3 am in Gausnagar Shahi Colony. It falls under Kapali locality.

Moreover, burglars climbed the boundary wall silently. They entered the house with planning.

At that time, family members had gone to Chandil Kitatdih Urs. Only Akhtar Ali stayed inside.

However, Akhtar heard faint sounds after midnight. He ignored them initially as routine noises.

Later, repeated sounds raised suspicion. Consequently, he stepped outside cautiously.

Meanwhile, several youths inside the house overpowered him. They tied him with a rope.

Besides, the accused threatened him with a knife. They warned him against raising alarms.

In fear, Akhtar offered no resistance. Subsequently, thieves collected jewellery and valuables.

After dawn, Akhtar freed himself somehow. He immediately informed his family members.

Soon after, relatives returned and confirmed the theft. Household items lay scattered everywhere.

Accordingly, jewellery and valuables were missing from cupboards. Losses were estimated near Rs 50,000.

Notably, the family suspects a known youth. He allegedly attempted breaking locks earlier.

Earlier attempts reportedly occurred four times the previous night. The youth fled when questioned.

Therefore, the family believes the same person planned the burglary. Police were informed promptly.

Meanwhile, Kapali police started investigation immediately. Officers inspected the crime scene.

In recent years, similar crimes surfaced in Kapali, including a previous burglary.

Moreover, police earlier recovered stolen goods in a mobile theft case.

On the other hand, vehicle theft gangs were also busted in Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Similarly, police recently solved a car theft case in Chandil area.

Besides, organised theft networks were earlier exposed in a bike theft ring case.

Residents demanded increased night patrolling urgently. They also sought stronger security arrangements.
