Two Others Injured in Jaraikela Area; Security Forces Launch Search Operation

CHAIBASA – A villager was killed and two women sustained serious injuries after stepping on an IED planted by Maoist insurgents in West Singhbhum district.

The incident occurred on Friday near Kolambonga village. The blast took place in Jaraikela police station area. Villagers were heading towards the forest for work.

The explosion happened suddenly on their path. One woman died instantly at the scene. Two others collapsed on the ground with injuries.

Local residents rushed the wounded to hospital. Chaibasa SP Amit Renu confirmed the incident. He stated that Maoist activity remains active there.

Security forces have been conducting continuous operations. Police and CRPF teams reached the spot immediately. They launched a comprehensive search operation in the area.

The SP explained IED usage is common Maoist strategy. These devices often target civilians and security personnel. The intensity of the blast was extremely severe.

The region has witnessed similar incidents previously. An elephant died after stepping on an IED in Saranda forest earlier. Another villager was killed by a hidden explosive in 2023.

A fatal blast occurred in Chaibasa forest last year. A teenager also lost his life in a similar explosion.

Moreover, authorities have appealed for public cooperation. Residents should report any suspicious objects immediately. They must inform administration about unusual activities.

Furthermore, the district remains under heightened security. Anti-naxal operations continue across vulnerable zones. Police maintain vigilance in remote forest areas.
