JAMSHEDPUR – Bengali speakers in Jharkhand will stage a large demonstration on September 10 to advocate for their linguistic rights and educational demands.

The Jharkhand Bengali Unnayan Samiti is spearheading this movement. Their primary objective is to secure official recognition for the Bengali language in the state.

"We have been advocating for our rights for over two years now," stated Amit Banerjee, a local activist. He emphasized the importance of preserving their cultural identity.

The protesters are demanding Bengali-medium education in schools. They also want the government to appoint Bengali language teachers in educational institutions.

This rally aims to amplify the voices of the Bengali-speaking community. Organizers expect thousands of participants from the Kolhan region to join the demonstration.

"Our language is an integral part of our heritage," remarked Dr. Suchitra Chatterjee, a cultural expert. She added, "Its recognition is crucial for our community’s growth."

The upcoming protest highlights the ongoing struggle for linguistic diversity. It underscores the importance of preserving regional languages in India’s multicultural landscape.
