JAMSHEDPUR – Preparations for the grand festival of faith, Chhath, are underway across the city, with rituals set to begin on Saturday with Nahay Khay. Ahead of the celebrations, Jamshedpur East MLA Purnima Das Sahu inspected all major river ghats in her constituency on Friday.

During her inspection, the MLA found a few lapses at certain locations and immediately contacted Krishna Kumar, Commissioner of Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee, directing him to expedite cleaning work.

She informed that a total of 11 Chhath Ghats fall under her assembly constituency along the Subarnarekha River. “While cleaning has been completed at some ghats, a few locations still need attention,” she stated.

The MLA further urged the state government to deploy adequate manpower to complete all cleaning activities on time.

Moreover, she assured that full arrangements for lighting, safety, and other facilities will be made to ensure devotees face no inconvenience during the four-day festival.

“Every Chhath devotee should be able to perform rituals safely and peacefully,” she emphasized.
