SERAIKELA – Police in Seraikela district have seized counterfeit English liquor valued at about ₹14 lakh during a major raid in Hathimara village. Two individuals were arrested and remanded to judicial custody following interrogation.
According to Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat, the operation was launched after a tip-off indicated illegal liquor production in the area. Acting on this information, a special team led by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer carried out a search operation.
During the raid at the residence of Krishna Hesa in Hathimara, the police recovered approximately 248 cartons containing around 2,019 litres of liquor from different brands. In addition, equipment used for packaging, stickers, and sealing machines were also found at the site.
The arrested suspects have been identified as Deepak Namit and Lugni Hembram, both residents of Kharsawan police station area. During questioning, the accused reportedly disclosed names of several others connected with the racket.
Meanwhile, police teams are conducting further raids to capture those still at large. The Superintendent described the bust as a major success for the district police.
