JAMSHEDPUR – A traffic police constable pushed a woman and her child off a scooter during a checking operation in Telco area on Saturday.

The incident occurred near G Hostel. Golmuri Traffic Police were conducting routine checks. A woman was passing through with her daughter.

She noticed the police team ahead. The woman got nervous and turned back. However, constable Kamlesh Rai chased her vehicle.

He pushed the scooter with force. The woman and child fell on the road. Moreover, the constable fled from the spot immediately.

Eyewitnesses reported what happened next. The woman stood up and restarted her scooter. Other officers then arrived at the scene.

They pushed the vehicle again from behind. The woman fell a second time. She sustained serious injuries in the fall.

Local residents gathered at the spot. They raised slogans against traffic police. Furthermore, anger erupted over the brutality displayed.

“Police should protect, not terrorize citizens,” residents said. They called the behavior shameful and inhuman. The incident involved a child witnessing violence.

Traffic personnel fled as tensions escalated. Local people helped the injured woman. She was rushed to hospital for treatment.

A video of the incident surfaced online. It shows officers pushing the scooter deliberately. The woman falls with her child clearly visible.

Social media erupted with condemnation. Citizens expressed outrage over police conduct. “Such officers work against the public,” commentators wrote.

The department’s credibility has come under question. Senior officers have taken cognizance of the video. Golmuri Traffic Station in-charge received orders for a report.

Citizens are debating police arbitrariness. Traffic rule enforcement shouldn’t involve violence. The uniform symbolizes protection, not fear.
