Congress Slams US H-1B Visa Fee Hike as Blow to Indians

Rajeev Mishra Urges Swift Government Action to Protect Families

Key Points:

  • Rajeev Mishra condemns sudden $100,000 H-1B visa fee
  • Congress calls for urgent bilateral talks with US authorities
  • Relief and legal aid demanded for affected families and workers

JAMSHEDPUR – Rajeev Mishra, media chairman and spokesperson of East Singhbhum Congress, has strongly criticized the US decision to impose a $100,000 fee on new H-1B petitions, calling it a harsh and damaging step for Indians.

He said the September 19 proclamation by the US president would cause severe uncertainty for Indian-origin families. According to him, the move would also hurt the Indian IT sector and trigger economic strain in towns and villages.

Mishra declared that the Congress organization stood firmly with the affected community. He emphasized that families face separation, disruption of children’s education and health plans, and growing financial burden.

“America’s sudden and contractual action will bring pain and insecurity for our people abroad and harm India’s IT industry and local economies,” he said. He demanded immediate, decisive intervention from the central government.

Meanwhile, Mishra urged the government to launch high-level talks with Washington. He insisted that such discussions must safeguard the humanitarian interests of NRIs and prevent project disruptions for Indian companies.

In addition, he appealed for relief packages and legal assistance to be arranged jointly by state and central authorities. He stressed that future policy shifts should involve bilateral consultations and transparency.

Mishra also requested the media to focus on verified facts. He asked journalists not to spread unconfirmed rumors, assuring that the Congress would continue to voice the concerns of affected families at national and international platforms.
