JAMSHEDPUR – Dissatisfaction rose in Mango after workers at a Durga Puja pandal were allegedly manhandled and misbehaved with by some miscreants, sparking protests from the Puja Committee and Hindu groups.
The incident took place at Gandhi Maidan, where artisans from Bengal were preparing the pandal. They were allegedly manhandled and misbehaved with, leaving them frightened.
Following the incident, the Puja Committee members met the Senior Superintendent of Police. They demanded strict action against individuals from a particular community, accusing them of attempting to disturb communal harmony.
Neeraj Singh, patron of the Puja Committee, said antisocial elements tried to spoil the festive atmosphere. He added that the Hindu community has always supported all festivals and expects the same in return.
Singh further warned that if such incidents continue, the city’s peace and law and order could be affected. He urged the police to ensure artisans are protected and celebrations remain peaceful.
Meanwhile, Rural SP Rishabh Garg confirmed that investigations are underway. He assured that district police will prevent any attempt to disrupt the festival. “Those trying to disturb peace will face strict action,” Garg stated.
