CHANDIL – Continuous rain in Jharkhand pushed Chandil Dam’s water level up to 181.22 meters, prompting the authorities to open its radial gates.
Residents of displaced villages alerted MLA Savita Mahato about the rising level. She immediately contacted the administration and requested urgent action.
Following her intervention, 11 radial gates were opened. Of these, five gates were lifted 2.5 meters while six were raised 1.5 meters. Large volumes of water were then released into the Subarnarekha river, increasing its flow speed.
On Sunday evening, MLA Savita Mahato reached the bridge below the dam for inspection. She assessed the situation personally.
Senior JMM leaders were also present, including central member Kablu Mahato, district secretary Baidhnath Tudu, Dharmu Gop, Sudama Hembram, Rahul Verma, Dinbandhu Mahato and Sanjay Hansda.
