  • Elderly cattle-grazing woman becomes victim of roadside theft near Khunti
  • Former chief minister hands over suspects to local police for investigation

KHUNTI – Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda caught four robbers and handed them over to Khunti police.

The incident occurred while Munda was returning from Amreshwar Dham temple. However, his convoy noticed an elderly woman in distress on the roadside.

The woman had been grazing cattle when the robbery happened. Moreover, thieves had snatched gold earrings from her ears before fleeing. Besides, she immediately started screaming for help upon spotting Munda’s vehicle.

Munda’s security personnel quickly questioned the distressed woman about the incident. Furthermore, they launched immediate pursuit of the fleeing suspects. On the other hand, the convoy’s rapid response prevented the robbers’ escape.

The four young men were apprehended within minutes of the chase. However, all suspects have denied involvement in the snatching incident. Meanwhile, police investigation continues to establish their guilt.

Munda had visited Amreshwar Dham temple earlier for worship and prayers. Additionally, his wife Meera Munda accompanied him during the religious visit. Moreover, the couple performed traditional rituals at the sacred site.

After completing temple prayers, Munda met former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Karia Munda. Furthermore, this meeting was part of his scheduled activities in Khunti. Besides, such interactions maintain his political and social connections.

The former Union Minister’s prompt action demonstrates community responsibility during public service. However, his security team’s efficiency ensured swift justice for the victim. Moreover, immediate police handover follows proper legal procedures.

Roadside crimes against elderly citizens remain a persistent concern in rural areas. Furthermore, women grazing livestock often become easy targets for petty criminals. Besides, such incidents highlight the need for enhanced rural security measures.

Arjun Munda previously served as Jharkhand’s Chief Minister and held central ministerial positions. Meanwhile, he continues active involvement in state political and social affairs. Additionally, his constituency work includes addressing local crime and security issues.
