JAMSHEDPUR – Police detained eleven individuals after BJP leaders staged massive protests over alleged religious conversion activities in the city’s Kalindi Basti area.
The incident unfolded on Sunday when hundreds of BJP leaders gathered at Kalindi Basti. The area falls under Sitaramdera police station jurisdiction. However, information about religious conversion activities triggered the demonstration.
Police responded immediately to the developing situation. Moreover, officers seized religious literature from the location. In addition, authorities recovered documents related to conversion activities.
A similar controversy erupted the previous night in the Golmuri area. Local residents created disturbances over conversion allegations there too. Furthermore, police detained several people in that incident as well.
Religious conversion cases are suddenly gaining momentum across Jamshedpur. Meanwhile, the situation has put the local administration on alert. On the other hand, questions arise about police action in these matters.
Sources indicate that detained individuals came from different regions. Besides, people arrived from various parts of Odisha and West Bengal. Moreover, participants also came from different areas of Jharkhand.
