Major Accident Averted as Train Stopped Before Kansbahal Station Gate

Key Points:

  • Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express halted for 20 minutes safely
  • Tractor’s rear wheel stuck in pothole near railway crossing
  • Quick alert by railway staff prevented potential major accident

CHAKRADHARPUR – A major railway accident was averted when the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express was stopped after a tractor got stuck at Kansbahal railway crossing under Chakradharpur Rail Division.

According to railway sources from CKP, the incident occurred around 1:40 PM on Saturday afternoon. A tractor was crossing the railway gate between Rourkela and Rajgangpur stations. However, its rear wheel got trapped in a pothole.

The tractor driver attempted to free the vehicle unsuccessfully. Meanwhile, the stuck tractor prevented the railway crossing gate from closing. This created a dangerous situation for approaching trains.

The Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express (20836) was approaching the same track. Railway crossing staff immediately assessed the critical situation. Moreover, they quickly alerted the nearest station about the obstruction.

Alert railway personnel took swift action to prevent disaster. The train was stopped at 1:56 PM before reaching Kansbhal crossing. Furthermore, the halt occurred at a safe distance from the obstruction.

Railway Protection Force from Rajgangpur rushed to the spot immediately. In addition, the PWI department team reached the location quickly. Both teams coordinated efforts to resolve the emergency situation.

The rescue teams successfully extracted the tractor from the pothole. Subsequently, the railway crossing was cleared for train movement. The Vande Bharat Express resumed its journey at 2:19 PM.

The entire incident caused approximately a 20 minutes delay for passengers. However, timely alertness prevented a potentially catastrophic railway accident. Passengers experienced minor inconvenience during the unexpected halt.

Railway officials praised the quick response of crossing staff. “The alert action saved hundreds of lives today,” said a railway source. Moreover, the incident highlighted the importance of proper crossing maintenance.

The pothole near the railway crossing has raised safety concerns. Local authorities need to address such infrastructure issues immediately. Besides, regular maintenance of railway crossings remains crucial for safety.

This incident demonstrates the effectiveness of railway safety protocols. Furthermore, it shows how prompt communication can prevent major disasters. The coordination between different railway departments proved successful.

Passengers aboard the Vande Bharat Express remained calm during the halt. Railway staff kept them informed about the situation regularly. In addition, normal services resumed without further complications.
