JAMSHEDPUR – A tempo driver sustained critical injuries after crashing into a tree near Gitilata.

The incident occurred under the Potka police station limits when the vehicle veered off the road. The injured driver, 35-year-old Ganesh Bodra, hails from Hakegoda village in Rajnagar.

According to eyewitnesses, Bodra was heading towards Hata when the accident took place. His vehicle suddenly lost control and collided with a roadside tree near Gitilata village.

However, no other passengers were present in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Responding promptly, Potka police reached the spot after being alerted.

They rushed the injured to the Community Health Centre in Potka. Later, due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to MGM Hospital for advanced treatment.

Meanwhile, police have begun investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding or poor road conditions could have led to the mishap.

In addition, local residents have raised concerns about the narrow and uneven road near Gitilata. Similar accidents have occurred there in the past.

The district administration has been urged to improve road infrastructure in the region. Safety measures such as speed limit signs and road repairs are being demanded.
