JAMSHEDPUR – Mukta Devi, a 70-year-old resident of Gopalpur in the Patamda police station area, passed away on Wednesday morning while receiving treatment. She had suffered severe burns on Tuesday while warming herself by a fire.
Her family rushed her to a nearby hospital, but due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was referred to MGM Hospital for advanced treatment. However, her condition deteriorated, and she was pronounced dead at around 4 AM on Wednesday.
Family Alleges Depression Led to the Incident
According to family members, Mukta Devi had been deeply affected by the passing of her husband, Ajit Kumbhkar, nine months ago. They stated that she often seemed withdrawn and melancholic.
Her five children are now mourning the loss, and police have sent her body for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
