Saryu Roy Suggests Satnala Water Project for 100-Year Supply

Clean Water to Ensure Sustained Development in Mango, Roy Stresses

Saryu Roy advocates for the Satnala Dam water project to solve Mango’s water issues, pledging to pressure the government for swift action.

Key Points:

  • Satnala project could solve Mango’s water needs for 100 years.
  • Roy emphasized minimal cost for pipeline installation.
  • Proposed a dedicated Mango Municipal Corporation building.

JAMSHEDPUR – MLA Saryu Roy inaugurated the water tower built under Phase 2 of the Mango Urban Water Supply Scheme, stressing the potential of the Satnala Dam project to end water scarcity in Mango and Ghatsila for the next century.

Roy underscored that supplying water from Satnala Dam to Mango would incur negligible expenses. He assured residents that if the government does not accept this proposal, collective pressure from the public and civic bodies would be mobilized.

Satnala Project: A Game-Changer

During the inauguration, Roy highlighted the benefits of the Satnala Dam, located at a higher elevation with abundant water. A pipeline, he said, would suffice to bring water to Mango, eliminating the complexities of current water systems involving elevation and treatment processes.

He also pointed out that a newly built hospital in Mango remains non-operational due to inadequate water supply, adding urgency to the Satnala project’s implementation.

Civic Infrastructure Needs

Roy noted issues with Mango’s sanitation and garbage management, urging officials to calculate manpower needs and promising to secure budget allocations. He proposed constructing a dedicated Mango Municipal Corporation office on a vacant two-acre plot in the proposed bus depot area.

Call for a Coordinated Water Policy

Roy appealed to the Jharkhand government to establish a water coordination committee, akin to the central government’s Jal Shakti mission, for effective resource management.

He emphasized, “If implemented efficiently, the Satnala project could be operational within six months, providing sufficient and clean water to residents.”
