  • Over 4,000 passengers to benefit from reduced waiting lists.

JAMSHEDPUR – Indian Railways is set to modernize Chapra and Katihar Express trains with the introduction of LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches. This upgrade aims to enhance passenger comfort and increase train speed, reducing travel-related jerks and ensuring a smoother ride.

Modernizing Passenger Experience

Currently, both trains operate with ICF (Integral Coach Factory) rakes, which will be replaced by LHB coaches. This transformation is expected to improve travel conditions significantly. The new coaches are designed for higher speeds and better stability, promising a superior travel experience.

Increased Seating Capacity

The introduction of LHB coaches will add eight additional seats each in Sleeper and Third AC classes, potentially alleviating the waiting list issues often faced by passengers. The move is expected to benefit over 4,000 daily travelers on the Tatanagar to Bihar route.

Enhanced Safety and Benefits

LHB coaches are known for their enhanced safety features, including reduced damage risks in case of accidents. The upgrade is part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet and improve passenger services.

Existing LHB Upgrades

Trains such as the Buxar Express, Durg-Ara South Bihar Express, and Bilaspur-Patna Weekly Express have already been equipped with LHB coaches, setting a precedent for the modernization of Chapra and Katihar Express.

Improved Travel on Bihar Route

The integration of LHB coaches in these trains is a significant step toward ensuring comfort and safety for travelers. This initiative highlights Indian Railways’ commitment to enhancing the travel experience for passengers across the country.
