SERAIKELA – Acting on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, the Excise Department conducted a major raid in Kamalpur village under Gamharia police station. The operation, led by Sub-Inspector Akhilesh Kumar, resulted in the seizure of 1138 bottles of Goa-made liquor. This liquor, banned for sale in Jharkhand, was stored in a mud house turned warehouse.

Operation Details and Escape

The raid exposed a significant illegal supply chain distributing Goa liquor across Jharkhand. The sudden arrival of the authorities caused chaos, allowing the operators—identified as Gautam Kaivarto, Govind Kaivarto, and Prahlad Kaivarto—to flee.

Longstanding Illicit Operations

Local sources revealed that the village has been a hub for illegal liquor trade for an extended period. Officials confirmed a case has been registered against the absconding operators, and efforts are underway to apprehend them.
