Over 2,000 Cases Pending in Various Courts Strain State Finances

RANCHI – The Jharkhand government faces revenue challenges with Rs 2,385.39 crore trapped in ongoing tax disputes.

The Additional Commissioner’s court handles 1,555 pending cases. Meanwhile, Supreme Court oversees 38 high-value disputes.

“Legal delays impact state finances significantly,” noted a senior official. The Commercial Tax Department seeks quick resolutions.

Various judicial forums examine these tax matters. Moreover, each court handles different case volumes.

“Resolution speed varies across forums,” explained a tax expert. Additionally, the High Court manages cases worth Rs 1,335 crore.

Previous Settlement Success

Past initiatives showed positive results. Furthermore, the one-time settlement scheme proved effective.

The scheme helped recover substantial amounts. However, new cases continue to emerge regularly.
