JAMSHEDPUR – Dhalbhum SDO Shatabdi Majumdar led a team to raid tobacco shops near the Graduate College, The Tagore Academy, and the collectorate building in Sakchi today.
Raids Target Tobacco Sales Near Schools
The operation aimed to enforce the prohibition of tobacco sales near schools and colleges. Tobacco products were confiscated from multiple shops, and fines were imposed on violators. A seizure list is being prepared, and the confiscated items will be destroyed to ensure compliance.
Food Safety Concerns Addressed
The team, which included Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh and Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain, also investigated tea shops following complaints of adulteration. Tea samples were collected and will be sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Namkum for thorough testing.

Shatabdi Majumdar reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to preventing the illegal sale of tobacco products near educational institutions. She emphasized that legal action would be taken against offenders and promised sustained efforts to curb such activities.
