Palamu: Residents of Nimiya Nahar Struggle With Poor Roads and Drains

Locals Demand Immediate Construction of Roads and Drains

Nimiya Nahar residents urge the municipal corporation to resolve long-standing issues of poor drainage and dilapidated roads.

Key Points:

  • Ward 3 residents face severe drainage and road problems.
  • Residents demand RCC drains and PCC road construction.
  • Protests planned if issues remain unresolved.

MEDININAGAR – The residents of Ward No. 3, Nimiya Nahar locality, in the Palamu municipal area, are grappling with severe problems caused by inadequate drainage and deteriorated roads. Stagnant water has become a health hazard, especially during the monsoon, as water enters homes and makes walking nearly impossible.

A meeting chaired by Rajendra Mehta was convened to address the growing concerns. The attendees emphasized the need for immediate construction of RCC drains and PCC roads. The residents specifically requested improvements along the route from the gate of Vimla Pandey Gyan Niketan School to various homes, including those of Ramavatar Ram, Naresh Bharti, and Vinod Singh.

Unfulfilled Promises Haunt Residents

The Nimiya Nahar area was incorporated into the Medininagar Municipal Corporation in 2017, with promises of urban amenities. However, seven years later, residents claim basic issues remain unresolved despite substantial tax collections by the corporation.

Growing Frustration and Threat of Protests

Residents, including former ward councilor Shakuntala Devi, expressed their frustration, stating that unsanitary conditions increase the risk of diseases. Vijay Singh, a local, warned that protests would be organized if construction work does not commence soon.

The gathering was attended by several community members, including Rajeshwar Singh, Sukhraj Ram, Vasudev Ram, and others, who resolved to take collective action if the administration fails to respond promptly.
