JAMSHEDPUR – District authorities have launched a major enforcement drive against illegal tobacco sales near educational institutions in Jamshedpur.
SDO Shatabdi Majumdar led the inspection team. The team targeted shops near several schools.
“We will not tolerate tobacco sales near educational zones,” Majumdar declared firmly.
Widespread Operations
The raids covered multiple locations across the city. Meanwhile, officials focused on paan shops near schools.
Moreover, authorities imposed immediate penalties on violators. The team destroyed seized tobacco products on the spot.
Food Safety Measures
The campaign expanded beyond tobacco enforcement. Officials collected tea samples from local vendors.
Meanwhile, Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain joined the operations. The samples will undergo testing at Namkum laboratory.
Previous Actions
Similar raids were conducted last year near educational institutions. Those operations had resulted in several shop closures.
Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh supervised the operations. The team had received multiple complaints about violations.
“Regular monitoring will continue in these areas,” a district official confirmed.
