RANCHI – Former minister and JDU leader Raja Peter had a close call when his SUV was struck by a container truck near the Podadih Kanchi Bridge on the Ranchi-Tata National Highway. The incident occurred as he was traveling from his hotel near the Deori Temple to the SBI Bank in Bundu.

Raja Peter explained, “As I entered the single lane before the Kanchi Bridge, a container truck coming from the opposite direction collided with my vehicle.” Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but one side of the SUV was damaged.

Police Action and Public Response

Police promptly detained the container driver and assistant for questioning. The authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the collision. Meanwhile, locals gathered at the scene, expressing relief that Raja Peter escaped unharmed.

Rising Concerns on Highway Safety

The incident has highlighted safety concerns on the busy Ranchi-Tata Highway, particularly near single-lane stretches. Residents have urged authorities to enforce stricter traffic rules and improve road conditions to prevent future mishaps.
