MEDININAGAR – A tragic collision between a JPS passenger bus and a truck near Kasiyadih turn on National Highway 75 resulted in three deaths and several injuries early Friday morning. The dense fog in the area is believed to have caused the accident.
The mishap occurred around 7 a.m., claiming the lives of Pushpendra Kumar, the truck driver from Uttar Pradesh; Shashi Pandey, the bus driver from Garhwa’s Meral; and Riyaz Ansari, a resident of Mukta village in Satbarwa. Seven others sustained critical injuries and were rushed to Ranchi for advanced treatment.
Emergency Response and Rescue Efforts
Satbarwa Circle Officer Krishna Murari Tirkey and police in-charge Vishwanath Kumar Rana arrived promptly at the scene. Local residents assisted officials in rescuing trapped victims and transferring them to Navjeevan Hospital in Tumbagara. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus driver was trapped in the steering for an extended period before his body could be extricated.
Weather Conditions and Investigation
Friday morning saw dense fog enveloping Palamu, contributing to limited visibility on the roads. Authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident. “We are thoroughly examining the circumstances,” said a police official, ensuring steps are taken to prevent such tragedies.
Victim Updates and Assistance
Among the severely injured are Ankit Kumar from Uttar Pradesh, Rozni Bibi from Mukta village, and Firoz Ansari from Teter village in Manatu. Minorly injured passengers were treated and discharged, while post-mortem procedures were conducted for the deceased.
