Seraikela Police Issues Proclamation Against Fugitive NDPS Accused

Fugitive NDPS Act Accused Warned to Surrender in 30 Days

Key Points:

  • Notice issued with drum-beating ceremony at the accused’s residence.
  • One year since the accused evaded law enforcement.
  • Confiscation of property planned for non-compliance.

SERAIKELA – Jamshedpur’s Mango Police, with support from Sini OP, served a public notice against NDPS Act accused Maharaj Ali, a resident of Kamalpur, who has been evading arrest for a year.

On Monday, officers conducted a drum-beating event outside Ali’s residence to draw public attention before pasting the notice. The operation was led by Sini OP in-charge Rajendra Kumar along with SI Mahendra Kumar and Umesh Kumar Modi from Mango Police Station. Officials warned that failure to surrender within a month would result in confiscation of the accused’s property.

Background of the Case

Maharaj Ali became a fugitive following revelations by two arrested individuals, Mrityunjay Kumar Pandey and Vishal Kumar Singh, apprehended with 19 pouches of brown sugar in December 2023. The duo admitted Ali’s involvement in their illegal drug trade during interrogation.

Legal Proceedings

Mango Police registered the case under NDPS Act (Case No. 368/23). Despite the ongoing investigation, Ali neither surrendered nor sought anticipatory bail, prompting authorities to escalate measures.

Public Awareness Drive

The notice, accompanied by a stern warning, was issued to emphasize strict legal consequences. Local residents and Sini OP police personnel witnessed the event, further spreading awareness about the case.

Section 84 of BNSS
