e-Shram Registrations Surpass 30 Crore in 2024 Milestone
Over 30 Crore Unorganized Workers Registered on e-Shram in 2024
Key Points:
- e-Shram crosses 30 crore registrations, linking workers to 12 welfare schemes.
- States receive targeted data for welfare delivery through the platform.
- Platform workers’ module launched for enhanced social security coverage.
NEW DELHI – The Ministry of Labour and Employment announced that registrations on the e-Shram portal have surpassed 30 crore this year, marking a significant milestone in providing social security to unorganized workers.
Rapid Expansion of e-Shram Coverage
Launched in October 2024, e-Shram has been positioned as a “one-stop solution” for unorganized workers to access 12 integrated welfare schemes, including Ayushman Bharat, MGNREGA, and PMAY. The platform enables real-time verification of workers’ eligibility and helps states ensure scheme saturation.
The Ministry reported that e-Shram data has been shared with states and union territories to streamline welfare delivery and improve targeting. A newly introduced module for platform workers aims to enhance verification processes via aggregator collaboration.
Strengthening Welfare Reach
The platform’s success reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing unorganized sector support. “This milestone demonstrates our dedication to ensuring no worker is left behind,” an official spokesperson stated. Data-sharing guidelines have also been developed to assist states in utilizing e-Shram for efficient welfare implementation.
Future Plans for Integration
The Ministry is working on integrating additional schemes into e-Shram in a phased manner. Currently, workers can access benefits such as insurance coverage under PMSBY and PMJJBY, housing support through PMAY, and healthcare through Ayushman Bharat.
By facilitating targeted welfare saturation, e-Shram continues to transform social security access for millions across India.
