Medical Body Demands Enhanced Security After Assault on Dr. A.K. Lal

JAMSHEDPUR – The Indian Medical Association’s local chapter met with district officials following a violent assault on a former civil surgeon, demanding swift action against perpetrators.

The attack on Dr. A.K. Lal, who served as the East Singhbhum civil surgeon from 2018 to 2020, has sent shockwaves through the medical community. A group of unidentified individuals reportedly targeted him at his nursing home.

“The safety of healthcare workers is paramount for ensuring uninterrupted medical services,” stated a senior IMA member.

Security Measures Under Review

The district administration is considering installing CCTV cameras at all major nursing homes. Moreover, police patrols near medical establishments will be increased.

Meanwhile, the local police have formed a special team to investigate the incident. In addition, security personnel have been deployed at Dr. Lal’s nursing home.

Rising Concerns in Medical Community

The incident has highlighted the vulnerability of healthcare workers. On the other hand, similar attacks have been reported in neighboring districts recently.

Furthermore, the State Medical Association has announced a meeting to discuss safety protocols. Besides, they are planning to submit a memorandum to the state government.
