XLRI Launches Cricket Tournament Honoring Fr. Enright’s Legacy

Ten Teams Compete in Charity Event Running Until February 2025

JAMSHEDPUR – XLRI Business School launched the Enright Memorial Cricket Tournament on December 21, bringing together diverse teams for a charitable cause.

The prestigious tournament has kicked off with significant enthusiasm at XLRI’s campus. Fr. S. George, SJ, Director of XLRI, inaugurated the event alongside RAF Second-in-Command Sachidanand Mishra and Dean Admin Fr. Donald D’Silva.

“This tournament embodies our commitment to social responsibility,” said a senior faculty member. “Every contribution will directly support underprivileged communities in our region.”

Tournament Structure

The event features ten diverse teams comprising XLRI alumni, faculty, staff, and security personnel. Moreover, the tournament will witness 26 matches over the next month, culminating in the finals on February 1, 2025.

Meanwhile, Tata Steel Foundation has joined as a participating team, enhancing the tournament’s competitive spirit. In addition, research scholars and outsourced staff members are also participating in this inclusive sporting event.

Opening Day Highlights

Vikas Yadav emerged as the star performer in the inaugural match. Furthermore, his outstanding contribution of 68 runs off 30 balls and four wickets led Vintage Warriors to victory.

On the other hand, Loyola Alumni Association secured a thrilling three-wicket win in the second match. Besides, Utkarsh’s explosive innings of 81 runs from 33 balls proved decisive in their chase of 144 runs.
