RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s maiden cabinet meeting approved critical reforms including women’s welfare schemes and revenue recovery initiatives.

The new Jharkhand government has hit the ground running. The first cabinet meeting focused on financial reforms. The state will pursue Rs 1.36 lakh crore in central dues.

Moreover, women beneficiaries will receive Rs 2500 monthly support. The aid starts from December 2024 under the Mainiya Samman Yojana.

“The government is committed to strengthening our financial position,” stated a senior finance department official. “We will explore all revenue generation opportunities.”

Meanwhile, Prof Stephen Marandi will serve as pro tem speaker. The sixth assembly session runs from December 9 to 12.

Furthermore, the cabinet approved formation of an all-party committee. It will address issues of Jharkhand workers in Assam’s tea gardens.

In addition, the government will review police recruitment processes. The administration seeks to streamline examination procedures.

The cabinet also directed preparation of annual calendars. Both JPSC and JSSC will create detailed schedules.

Additionally, Jharkhand saw record revenue collection in 2023. The state gathered Rs 25,000 crore in mining sector taxes.

Besides, the government plans to digitize tax collection. The move aims to enhance revenue recovery efficiency.
