RANCHI – A Lohardaga court sentenced a juvenile to 20 years imprisonment for gang-raping a minor girl in Bhandra police station area.
The incident occurred on April 3, 2023, at a village wedding. Moreover, the victim had gone to a water pump when she was attacked.
Public Prosecutor Mini Lakda detailed the case proceedings. Furthermore, the court imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convicted juvenile.
Case Background
The victim had attended a wedding ceremony in the village. Meanwhile, four juvenile accused were lying in wait near the water pump.
Additionally, the perpetrators forcibly took her to nearby bushes. “All accused belonged to Bhandra police station area,” Lakda stated.
Legal Proceedings
The District Court ADJ-1 Akhilesh Kumar Tiwari delivered the verdict. However, two other accused are facing trial in the Juvenile Justice Board.
The case was registered at Bhandra Police Station. Meanwhile, authorities have strengthened night patrolling in vulnerable areas.
