JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur Workers College held a week-long seminar to celebrate National Mathematics Day in honor of the renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.

The seminar was organized by the science faculty from December 16 to 23. Prof. Binoy Anthony Minz welcomed the attendees, while Dr. Vidyaraj DJ conducted the program. The event witnessed active participation from teachers and students, focusing on Ramanujan’s exceptional contributions.

Dr. Satyapriya Mahalik, the principal, emphasized the global pride brought by Ramanujan. He stated that celebrating Mathematics Day is a vital effort to honor his unforgettable contributions.

Importance of Mathematics in Everyday Life

Prof. Harendra Pandit, the keynote speaker, elaborated on “The Importance of Mathematics in Daily Life.” He highlighted how mathematics impacts various fields, including science, technology, and day-to-day activities. Prof. Pandit motivated students by stating, “It is impossible to imagine modern society without mathematics.”

Active Student Participation

The seminar included a range of activities, such as a poster competition for science faculty students. Students enthusiastically showcased their talent, with posters from the physics and mathematics departments receiving special awards.
