Relief Extended till January 16 as ED Seeks Time to File Response

RANCHI – The Jharkhand High Court extended Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s exemption from personal appearance until January 2025.
Justice Anil Kumar Chaudhary’s bench awaits ED’s response. The next hearing is scheduled for January 16.
“The court has provided interim relief to the CM,” confirmed a legal representative.
Case Background
The ED filed a complaint in February 2024. It alleged violations of PMLA and IPC sections.
Meanwhile, Soren responded to only two of ten summonses. The CJM court acknowledged the complaint in March.
Legal Proceedings
The MP-MLA court previously rejected Soren’s exemption plea. He then approached the High Court.
Moreover, advocates Piyush Chitresh and team represented Soren. The case involves Ranchi’s Bargain Zone dealings.
Furthermore, the ED’s investigation continues. Soren faces allegations of land scam involvement.
