Administration gears up for paddy procurement starting December 15

MEDININAGAR – A target of procuring two lakh quintals of paddy has been set for Palamu district this year. Paddy procurement will begin on December 15 at the 41 registered PACS centers across the district. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shashi Ranjan reviewed the preparations for the 2024-25 Kharif marketing season during a meeting held at the Collectorate conference hall on Friday.

Administrative Preparations Reviewed

During the meeting, DC Shashi Ranjan questioned District Supply Officer (DSO) Preeti Kisku about the administrative preparations ahead of the December 15 procurement launch. He emphasized that no negligence would be tolerated in achieving the procurement target of two lakh quintals of paddy.

The DC urged District Supply Officers, Cooperative Officers, and other concerned officials to work in better coordination to ensure fair and smooth procurement. He also instructed officials to launch awareness campaigns among farmers across the district.

Facilities for Farmers

To facilitate farmers, DC Shashi Ranjan directed officials to tag all rice mills with LAMPS centers. He further ensured that payments to farmers for their procured paddy would be made on time.

Special Registration Camps for Farmers

To streamline the process, a review of farmer registrations was conducted during the meeting. Special three-day registration camps will be organized at all block offices on December 16, 17, and 18. Farmers are encouraged to visit these camps with all required documents for registration on the e-portal.

DC Shashi Ranjan stressed strict action against middlemen and fake farmers attempting to misuse the procurement process. He instructed officials to remain vigilant throughout the process.
