DHANBAD – Criminals unleashed a series of gunshots in Barwa Adda under the Kurmidih area, critically injuring Teli community leader Chetan Prasad Mahto. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital for treatment, where his condition remains serious.
The incident occurred near Mahto’s cement shop at Kurmidih Mor. Eyewitnesses reported that bike-borne assailants stopped a short distance away. They approached on foot and fired four to five rounds at close range, leaving Mahto seriously injured.
Viral Letter Sparks Outrage
Following the shooting, a letter allegedly from gangster Prince Khan’s aide, Major, went viral on social media. The letter claimed responsibility for the attack, warning that those failing to “manage Chhote Sarkar” would meet a similar fate. It also threatened land businessmen openly.
Administration Under Fire
Sindri MLA Chandradev alias Bablu Mahto expressed concern over the escalating violence. “Shootings are happening repeatedly in my constituency. The administration has completely failed to control criminals,” he said. Mukhiya representative Ashutosh Rajak added that the attackers targeted Mahto while he was standing outside his shop.
Police Investigation Underway
Barwa Adda Station-in-Charge Saraswati Minz confirmed the shooting incident. She stated that Mahto had sustained bullet injuries and that investigations are ongoing. Regarding the viral letter, Minz said she was unaware but assured that further inquiries would be conducted.
