JAMSHEDPUR – Tatanagar Railway Station is on track for a major transformation with a Rs 348 crore redevelopment project.
The ambitious plan aims to modernize the station with airport-like facilities.
Moreover, the project is designed to meet passenger demands up to the year 2060.
A six-storey main entrance will be constructed as part of the redevelopment.
The first floor will house passenger amenities, while upper floors will be for commercial use.
Additionally, a three-storey secondary entry gate will facilitate efficient passenger movement.
Multi-layer parking facilities at both entrances will address growing vehicular needs.
Furthermore, subways and elevated walkways will provide easy access to eight platforms.
The station currently serves about 44,169 passengers daily, expected to double by 2060.
It manages 57 mail-express trains and 35 passenger trains, with 17 pairs departing daily.
The development project will utilize 78.71 acres of the station’s total 200-acre area.
South Eastern Railway Zone and Chakradharpur Railway Division officials are overseeing the project.
Meetings with GM Anil Kumar Mishra and Design Accord Consultant Architect Agency are ongoing.
The tender process for this vital infrastructure project is set to commence shortly.
