JAMSHEDPUR – The Indian Institute of Welding’s Jamshedpur chapter is hosting a three-day national seminar starting December 12 at the SNTI Auditorium in Bistupur.
The event brings together over 300 specialists from organizations such as ISRO, BARC, NML, and various IITs to share insights on recent developments in welding technology. Dr. A. Prabhakaran, Chairman of the Jamshedpur chapter, highlighted that this is the first national seminar hosted by the chapter in a decade, focusing on progress in welding, cladding, and additive manufacturing.
The seminar will feature the presentation of 110 research papers. Notable attendees include Dr. Aniruddha Kumar, Deputy General Manager at BARC; Anil Vasani from ISRO; Amita De from IIT Mumbai; and Sandeep Ghosh Chaudhary, Director of NML. Additionally, 30 exhibition stalls will showcase current technologies from various companies in the welding industry.
Arvind Dattaray, Vice President of the institute, emphasized the critical role of welding across sectors, noting its contribution of approximately 2.25% to the nation’s GDP. He stated, “From aerospace to missile and tank manufacturing, diverse welding techniques are indispensable.”
This seminar aligns with India’s growing focus on additive manufacturing, as evidenced by the National Additive Manufacturing Symposium held earlier this year in New Delhi. :contentReference[oaicite:0]{index=0} The event underscores the importance of welding technology in the country’s industrial advancement.
