Arson Attack in Bagbera: Vehicles and Home Set Ablaze at Midnight

Miscreants Torch Village Head’s House, Vehicles in Bagbera

Key Points:

  • House of village head and vehicles set on fire late at night
  • Women returning from a wedding alerted residents to the fire
  • Locals blame drug addicts and demand immediate police action

JAMSHEDPUR – Tension erupted in Somay Jhopdi under Bagbera police station after miscreants set fire to the house of village head Ratilal Hembram and two vehicles belonging to BJP ST Morcha Gaghidih Mandal President Chhotray Murmu and his brother Simel Murmu.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. on Monday night. Women returning from a wedding procession noticed the fire and raised an alarm. The family woke up to find the flames spreading rapidly, creating chaos in the neighborhood.

Timely Action Prevents a Major Disaster

Villagers acted swiftly, using buckets and pipes to douse the fire, which took nearly an hour to control. However, significant damage was caused to the house’s verandah, made of tarpaulin, and the vehicles—a Bolero car and a tempo.

Village head Ratilal Hembram stated, “We stayed awake until around 1 a.m. before going to sleep. The women returning from the wedding saved us from a major accident. If they hadn’t alerted us, the entire house could have burned down.”

Blame on Drug Addicts and Anti-Social Elements

Locals suspect the involvement of drug addicts who frequently gather in the area late at night. BJP leader Chhotray Murmu, whose car and tempo were set ablaze, expressed anger over the incident. He said, “Drug addicts are responsible for this. They gather here every night consuming brown sugar and other substances. The police must identify and take strict action against these miscreants.”

Police Investigation Underway

Bagbera police reached the scene after receiving information and conducted a preliminary investigation. The victims have lodged a written complaint, and the police have assured that efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits.

Residents have demanded immediate action to curb the rising influence of drug addicts and anti-social activities in the area, which pose a threat to public safety.
