JAMSHEDPUR – A tragic road accident on NH-220 claimed the lives of a couple returning home from a wedding.

On Friday night, an unidentified vehicle struck a scooter carrying Arun Mahato and his wife, Nirmala Mahato, near Hensal in Rajnagar. The couple lay injured on the road for about 15 minutes before passersby informed the police. Attempts to contact the 108 ambulance service were unsuccessful.

Before police could arrive, locals arranged for the injured couple to be taken to Tata Main Hospital. However, doctors declared them dead on arrival. The victims were returning home from a wedding ceremony when the accident occurred. No eyewitnesses were present at the scene during the incident.

Arun Mahato was a former ward member of Naty Ruli village under Edal Panchayat. In recent years, he had been residing with his family in Hata. The couple is survived by a son and a daughter, both married. Police are investigating the incident to identify the vehicle involved.
