RPF Arrests Youth with Liquor, Hands Over to Excise Department

GARHWA – A youth carrying a large quantity of liquor illegally was arrested by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Garhwa Road Railway Station on Thursday night. The action was part of Operation Satark, aimed at curbing smuggling and other illegal activities.

The accused, identified as Shravan Kumar from Nawada, Bihar, was caught on platform 2/3 near the foot overbridge while waiting with two backpacks and a cloth bag. Upon inspection, RPF personnel found 46 bottles of premium liquor, including Royal Challenger, Royal Stag, and Royal Stag Barrel Select, with a total volume of 34,500 ml. The liquor was valued at ₹34,950.

Garhwa Road RPF in-charge Banarasi Yadav stated that the team, led by constables Jitendra Kumar Meena and Dev Kumar Pandey, was conducting routine patrolling when they apprehended the accused. During questioning, Shravan admitted to smuggling the liquor into Bihar, where it is prohibited, for resale at higher prices.

The accused failed to produce any authorization for transporting the liquor. Both the liquor and the accused were taken to the RPF post and later handed over to the Garhwa Excise Department for further legal proceedings.

This operation underscores the RPF’s commitment to tackling smuggling under Operation Satark, ensuring compliance with the law.
