JAMSHEDPUR – On the occasion of World Toilet Day, all public toilets in Jamshedpur were spruced up by a collaborative effort between Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) and JUSCO. The initiative aimed to enhance hygiene and celebrate the global day dedicated to sanitation awareness.
City Commissioner Krishna Kumar, JUSCO team members, and public toilet managers were present during the event. Addressing attendees, Kumar highlighted the city’s commitment to cleanliness under the "Green City, Clean City" motto. "Keeping public toilets clean and functional is a priority, and we urge citizens to use them responsibly," he stated.
The event also saw the distribution of PPE kits to sanitation workers, recognizing their essential role in maintaining public hygiene. The commissioner appealed to residents to avoid littering and ensure proper usage of facilities for sanitation and urination.
Sanjay Jha, manager of Sulabh Toilets in Jamshedpur, shared that World Toilet Day has been observed for over 40 years. "On this day, we decorate all public toilets and install special lighting to mark the occasion," he explained.
The initiative not only celebrated World Toilet Day but also reinforced the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in public spaces, aligning with Jamshedpur’s vision of sustainable urban living.
