PALAMU – With the first phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections set for November 13, the District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner of Palamu, Shashi Ranjan, dispatched 227 polling teams on Monday to the region’s five assembly constituencies.
At GLA College dispatch center, DC Ranjan addressed the teams, emphasizing the importance of conducting the elections with integrity and vigilance.
He highlighted that security measures had been reinforced to ensure a smooth voting process, especially in remote regions. For polling stations in distant areas, staff were airlifted by helicopter to designated cluster points, while teams for other booths will be sent to their clusters by Tuesday.
Campaigning Concludes, Security Measures in Place
With polling just days away, election campaigning in the region officially ended on Monday. While candidates may continue door-to-door outreach, campaigners from outside the district are prohibited from staying in the area until voting concludes, as per election rules. The administration has implemented strict guidelines to maintain fair and peaceful elections, ensuring security at every level.
DC Shashi Ranjan reaffirmed that all preparations are complete for the first phase of elections, including enhanced monitoring at polling sites.
“Our focus is on impartial and peaceful voting, and the entire administration is dedicated to this goal,” he assured.
Remote Polling Teams Dispatched with Reinforced Security
Given the difficult terrain in Palamu, some polling teams were provided with helicopter transport to reach their posts in remote areas.
These teams were the first to depart, underscoring the logistical challenges faced in the district. Polling officers and security personnel alike were briefed on protocols to ensure fair voting practices at all booths, with support from local authorities throughout election day.
