JAMSHEDPUR – Congress candidate Dr. Ajoy Kumar is under fire after accusing the BJP of insulting the Mukhi community based on a Facebook post that community leaders claim was from a fake BJP account.
The controversy began with a social media post, allegedly from the BJP, making objectionable comments about the Mukhi community in Jamshedpur East.
Dr. Kumar condemned the post, calling it “shameful” and stating his intent to file an FIR against BJP officials for spreading divisive sentiments.
He accused the BJP of disregarding the Mukhi and other marginalized communities, saying the comments showed “BJP’s double standards.”
However, according to media reports, prominent Mukhi community leaders, including Muzim Mukhi and Sandeep Mukhi, refuted Dr. Kumar’s claims, clarifying that the post originated from an unauthenticated account falsely attributed to the BJP.
They accused Dr. Kumar of attempting to manipulate the Mukhi community against the BJP, and on this basis, filed a formal complaint with the SC-ST police station, urging legal action against him.
Muzim Mukhi stated that Dr. Kumar’s statements have hurt the community’s reputation and fostered resentment, accusing him of a “deliberate conspiracy” to sway votes.
Mukhi leaders criticized Dr. Kumar for not verifying the source of the post before sharing it, alleging he acted recklessly to incite the community.
The Mukhi community leaders have demanded that Dr. Kumar be prosecuted, warning that his actions risk inflaming communal tension.
The incident has heightened the political rivalry between Dr. Kumar and BJP candidate Purnima Sahu, who also condemned the accusations and affirmed her support for the Mukhi community.
