Workers Halt Operations at Shree Cement Plant Over Wage Dispute

SERAIKELA – Operations at Shree Cement’s Kharsawan facility have ground to a halt as land donors launch an indefinite protest demanding wage revisions.

The protestors have completely blocked access to the facility’s entrance.

"We will not allow the plant to operate until our demands are met according to the original agreement," declared one of the land donors.

The company had previously committed to specific salary structures based on educational qualifications.

According to the agreement, graduates were promised monthly wages of Rs 40,000.

Meanwhile, technical professionals were supposed to receive Rs 50,000 per month, the workers claimed.

Impact on Operations

The demonstration has affected multiple departments across the facility.

Production, packing, and dispatch units have ceased all activities.

The loading and transportation operations have also come to a standstill.

Growing Tensions

Approximately 87 land donors participated in the initial land acquisition process.

Between 15 to 20 workers claim they haven’t received their promised increments.

The management has repeatedly ignored previous attempts at dialogue, the land donors said.

However, company officials have declined to comment on the ongoing situation.
