MEDININAGAR – Armed criminals carried out a major robbery at a jewelry trader’s house in Panki, Palamu district.
The incident occurred late on Wednesday night when six armed robbers broke into the house of jeweler Krishna Soni.
Soni, who was sleeping at the time, said the criminals first seized his mobile phone and then locked his family in a room.
The robbers threatened the family with weapons before stealing jewelry worth ₹20 lakh and ₹2.5 lakh in cash.
The stolen valuables were meant for his daughter’s upcoming wedding in February.
The robbery took place about one kilometer from the busy Karpuri Chowk.
After the robbers fled, Soni raised an alarm, informing neighbors about the incident.
Police, led by Inspector Poonam Toppo and Officer-in-Charge Rajesh Ranjan, arrived at the scene shortly after.
Lesliganj SDPO Manoj Kumar Jha confirmed the robbery and assured that those responsible would be apprehended soon.
The investigation is currently underway.
