RANCHI – Severe Cyclone Dana is moving rapidly towards the Odisha coast and is expected to make landfall around 2 AM tonight.

The cyclone, with wind speeds of up to 120 km/h, is expected to reach the Sagar Island area in West Bengal by the morning of October 25, according to the weather department.

It has issued warnings for heavy rainfall and strong winds, with the most significant impact expected in Odisha and West Bengal. Jharkhand and Bihar will also feel its effects.

In Jharkhand, an alert has been issued for heavy rain in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Seraikela-Kharsawan, with wind speeds reaching 60 km/h. Moderate rains are expected in Ranchi, Gumla, Khunti, and other nearby districts. Light to moderate rainfall is likely in Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, and Bokaro, with winds up to 40 km/h.

Meanwhile, several trains have been canceled, and fishermen have been advised to avoid coastal areas. The weather department has warned of continuous rainfall in affected districts on Friday.
