RANCHI – Jharkhand’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Gupta has been removed from his post following an Election Commission order due to allegations of his involvement in bribing legislators during the Rajya Sabha elections.

The allegations date back to when Raghuvar Das was the Chief Minister, and multiple political parties, including the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), filed complaints with the Election Commission regarding Gupta’s role in the elections.

In response, the Election Commission ordered his removal.

Ajay Kumar Singh, a former DGP, is being considered to replace Gupta, though names of other senior officers like Anil Palta and Prashant Singh are also being discussed.
