Jharkhand Polls: JMM Accuses EC of Bias Towards BJP

JMM alleges unfair treatment in election campaigning rules

Key Points:

• JMM claims EC favors BJP in no-fly zone declarations

• Supriyo Bhattacharya questions EC’s "level playing field" stance

• JMM alleges political motive behind two-phase election schedule

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has accused the Election Commission of favoring the BJP in the upcoming Jharkhand assembly polls, citing concerns over campaign restrictions and election scheduling.

JMM central general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya raised eyebrows over the Election Commission’s claims of ensuring a "level playing field" for all parties.

He questioned why no-fly zones are promptly declared when BJP star campaigners arrive, but not for opposition parties.

Moreover, Bhattacharya alleged a "big political game" behind the decision to conduct elections in two phases.

He claimed this scheduling gives Prime Minister Modi ample time for rallies, potentially influencing nearby districts.

Furthermore, the JMM spokesperson likened the Election Commission and BJP to the duo of "Babli and Bunty," implying collusion.

In addition, Bhattacharya expressed doubts about the transparency of the Election Commission’s actions.

He specifically highlighted concerns regarding the Mandu, Ramgarh, Khijri, and Silli constituencies.

Meanwhile, the upcoming polls are shaping up as a direct contest between the JMM-led INDIA bloc and the BJP-led NDA.

However, both coalitions are yet to finalize their seat-sharing arrangements.

On the other hand, Bhattacharya confidently dismissed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s aspirations for a BJP victory in Jharkhand.

A local political analyst commented, "These allegations raise serious questions about the fairness of the electoral process in Jharkhand."

In the 2019 elections, the JMM, Congress, and RJD alliance secured 47 seats in the 81-member assembly.

This time, the BJP will contest alongside allies AJSU, JD-U, and other partners.
