JAMSHEDPUR – The national wing of the Shaheed Thakur Ji Pathak Welfare Society is seeking approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NAHI) and Minister of Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, for space to install a statue of Shaheed Thakur Ji Pathak on the upcoming Jamshedpur Double Decker Highway.
For the past 1.5 years, Chandra Pathak, the society’s national general secretary, has been following up with NAHI. Recently, NAHI responded, stating that once the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the highway is finalized, the matter of providing space for the statue will be considered by higher authorities.
Shaheed Thakur Ji Pathak was a notable figure in Indian history, and Prime Minister Chandra Shekhar had once supported the idea of placing a statue in Jamshedpur.
Meanwhile, with Jharkhand state elections scheduled in two months, the society is pressing for a decision. The welfare society is in discussions with Gadkari’s team in Nagpur to expedite the process.
