JAMSHEDPUR – Sakchi Chenab Road Durga and Kali Bari prepares for its 102nd Durga Puja celebration, continuing a century-old tradition.
The Temple Committee has announced plans for this year’s Durga Puja festivities.
Shantanu Bose, General Secretary, shared details about the upcoming celebration.
The Puja’s history dates back to 1923 when it was first held in Kalimati.
However, the celebration moved to Chenab Road after Tata Steel granted land.
This year, the idol of Goddess Durga will don the traditional ‘Daker Saaj.’
Moreover, the Puja will adhere to pure rituals at Chenab Road Durga Bari.
Bhog distribution will take place over three days, starting from Saptami.
Furthermore, local artists will present cultural programs on Shashthi evening.
The temple will be illuminated with decorative electric lights in various designs.
"We’re honoring our heritage while celebrating this milestone," stated a committee member.
Additionally, key committee members were present during the announcement.
President Ashok Kumar Bhattacharya attended the briefing.
Vice Presidents Asim Kumar Kar and Ishwar Chandra Pramanik also participated.
Treasurer Kalachand Kuila was present to discuss the event’s arrangements.
The 102-year-old tradition showcases the community’s dedication to cultural preservation.
